Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris was born on the 20th of October, 1964. She is an American politician. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female to be elected vice president and also holds the title of highest-ranking female officer in the history of America. She is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition, she served as the United States senator representing California between 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland and attended Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. She started her career with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was appointed district attorney for San Francisco. In 2010 Harris was elected Attorney General of California and was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez during the 2016 Senate elections to become the 2nd African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as senator in the United States Senate. As Senator, Harris was a vocal advocate for federal de-scheduling of healthcare, and cannabis legalization as a pathway to citizenship of undocumented immigrants, as well as the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. The sharp questions she asked Trump officials in Senate hearings has earned the attention of the nation, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who was charged with sexual assault.
