Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran soon exited the business. One of the original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank to date. In February 2020, Corcoran had made 53 deals, the biggest being a $350,000 deal that included 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was second in a family of 10 kids, and was raised in Edgewater. Florence, Corcoran's mother, was a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., her father, was always changing jobs during Corcoran's career. Her family often relied on the free delivery of food from a friendly local supermarket. Corcoran remembers her father as an intoxicated man who would sometimes treat her mother with condescension and disrespect, particularly after having consumed alcohol. Corcoran struggled at school and later learned that she was dyslexic. Corcoran attended a Catholic elementary school in her neighborhood and began the high school year in St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran, who had failed several courses in her freshman year, moved to Leonia High School. There she received a grade of D.
